7 Ahadith On True Intentions

Knowledge of ahadith is essential in an effort to understand Islam. They contain rules and regulations, when implemented, would give cause to a better understanding of everyday life. This is applicable, to the individual of a society and also to the society as a whole. The messages within the ahadith are for the benefit of both, individual and society.Among many missions of the Prophet (peace be upon him), one was to set a pattern of conduct. The conduct of the Last Messenger (peace be upon him) can be found in the voluminous sahihs. We should make an attempt to abide by these rules.

Introduction To Ahadith:

It goes without saying that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has left us with two powerful sources for the improvement of the individual, the society and for the nations, those are: the Holy Quran and ahadith. The Quran was revealed to the Last Messenger (peace be upon him) through the angel Gabriel. The ahadith show us the diversities a single person can have, and the ways these diversities may be used to produce an optimal performance, where the performance is exemplary for future generations. This was one of the main tasks of the Last Messenger (peace be upon him), to guide humanity on the right path.

Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a son, a husband, a father, an advisor, a warrior, a leader, a judge and most important of all, he was the Seal of the Prophets - the last messenger of Allah. A man with such a character and such a vast field of responsibility is indeed deserving of biographical study, and through the ages, biographical researches have been carried out. The collection of ahadith is the result of these researchers. The study of ahadith is a science itself. There are 3 types of main ahadith and others lie in their subdivisions.Ahadith are classified as follows:

  1. Sahih: These are the genuine Traditions so declared after applying all tests.
  2. Hasan: These are the fair Traditions although inferior in the matter of authenticity to the Sahih.
  3. Daif: These are the weak traditions which are not so very reliable."

Sincerety ,Good Intentions In all Deeds:

Riyāḍ al-Ṣāliḥīn by Imām Yaḥyá ibn Sharaf al-Nawawī is a book of Islamic ethics, manners, and acts of worship.

Here,I would like to share some Ahadith, that we can implement in our lives and lead a good life with love and acceptance of Allah. These Ahadith are taken from the Chapter on sincerety and good intentions in all deeds and statements.

1. Umar ibn al-Khattab reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Verily, deeds are only with intentions. Verily, every person will have only what they intended. Whoever emigrated to Allah and his messenger, his emigration is for Allah and his messenger. Whoever emigrated to get something in the world or to marry a woman, his emigration is for that to which he emigrated.

2. Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

An army will raid the Ka’bah but when they reach a desert land, all of them will be swallowed by the earth.

I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, how will all of them be swallowed by the earth while among them are their markets and people not belonging to them?” The Prophet said:

They will all be swallowed up. Then, they will be resurrected for judgment upon their intentions.

3. Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

There is no longer emigration, but rather only jihad in the way of Allah and good intentions. When you are called to duty, go forth.

4. Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Verily, Allah does not look at your appearance or wealth, but rather he looks at your hearts and actions.

5. Abu Musa reported: A man asked the Prophet and he said, “A man may fight to be courageous, and another may fight for zeal, and another may fight to show off. So which of those is fighting in the cause of Allah?” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

He who fights to raise the word of Allah is in the way of Allah.

6. Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

The prayer of a man in congregation is twenty five times better than prayer in his home or shop. When he performs ablution in a good manner and leaves to the mosque only to perform prayer, then his every step will raise him a degree and expiate a sin until he enters the mosque. When he is performing prayer, the angels send blessings upon him for as long as he remains in his place of prayer. They say: O Allah, bless him and have mercy upon him. One of you continues to be in prayer as long as he is waiting for prayer.

7. Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Verily, Allah has recorded good and evil deeds and he made them clear. Whoever intends to perform a good deed but does not do it, Allah will record it as a complete good deed. If he intends to do it and does so, Allah Almighty will record it as ten good deeds, up to seven hundred times as much or even more. If he intends to do an evil deed and does not do it, Allah will record for him one complete good deed. If he does it, Allah will record for him a single evil deed.
